Books

Here are some of the decor and resource books I just love. These books have inspired me in how I decorate my home, in the things I buy for my Etsy and Chairish stores and what I aspire to in photographing my items.

“French Style with Vintage Finds: A Passion for French Antiques & Collectibles” by Cindy Smith Cooper, 2017

I bought this oversized book for a girlfriend and liked it so much I bought myself a copy. It has enchanting photos of French interiors, interesting collections of antiques along with shots taken at brocantes (that’s flea markets to you and me)!

“The Find: the Housing Works Book of Decorating with Thrift Shop Treasures, Flea Market Objects and Vintage Details” by Stan Williams, 2009.

I particularly love this book because I have been in several of the NYC Housing Works thrift stores featured here. But more than that it has interiors that will excite any vintage lover. Whenever I browse this book I imagine what I would buy if the featured apartment were having an estate sale…and there are always plenty of things I would try to nab!

“Style & Simplicity: An A to Z Guide to Living a More Beautiful Life” by Ted Kennedy Watson, 2014

This is a small book full of beautiful, interesting vignettes. It inspires me to be a better photographer and live more graciously.

“Wabi-Sabi Welcome: Learning to embrace the imperfect and entertain with thoughtfulness and ease” by Julie Pointer Adams, 2017

A simple, yet stunning, book that invites one to slow down and appreciate the imperfect, the handmade, and the natural patina things acquire as they age. One of my new favorites.

“the stuff of life: arranging things ordinary & extraordinary” by Hilary Robertson, 2019

This book is for people who love darker, moodier interiors with unique things. Lots of black, gray, brown, ivory. This book was made for me!

“Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry: Identification & Values” by Marcia “Sparkles Brown, 2002

With over 800 color photos this is a great resource for those who buy, sell, collect and just plain love costume jewelry. The values given are now almost two decades out of date, so they may or may not reflect today’s!

IRIS 62 Quart WEATHERTIGHT Storage Box, 4 Pack, Pearl

I store the majority of my inventory in an old garage that is not the most protective environment. These storage bins have been a lifesaver for me, keeping my goods free from dust, mold and critters.
