The Day After

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I’m still relishing it. Our daughters came over and we had a lovely meal that we all helped make. As we ate, hilarious, offbeat conversations ensued and I thought “This is us.” We get each other. I realized how blessed I am. And it was a wonderful day off from thinking about problems, politics and biz stuff, but now it’s back to real life!

I did have a small flurry of sales the last few days and have orders that I need to get in the mail today. I am particularly happy that the matching Italian vases sold. I bought these in 2021 for a stupid amount of money ($80) thinking they would sell easy peasy for a whole lot more. Well, they didn’t. But they finally sold and if I’m lucky I might make a teeny, tiny profit, but at this point I’m just happy to make my money back. Not sure quite where my brain was at when I bought them. They were marked Italy, but not valuable signed pieces or Bitossi. Lesson learned.

The Sajen goddess sterling silver bracelet was another disappointment only because it took so long to sell. I bought it in 2019 for $25 from the “Jewelry Lady” at my local flea market and it took five years to find a new owner for $90. But I was happy with the sterling silver and green labradorite ring–a $5 yard sale find from June of this year, it sold for $80. And I just bought the vintage Turkish cookbook a few weeks ago for $2 and it sold for $40.

I’ve given up trying to predict what items will sell quickly and what will take longer!! But I certainly want to things to start selling more quickly.

I was debating going out thrifting this Black Friday, but have decided to give it a miss. The stores will be super crowded and I don’t need more inventory. I’d rather stay home, putter around and eat leftovers!

Hope your Thanksgiving was blessed.
