Happy July friends. Hope life is treating you kindly. Life slowed down a lot for me this past week after I caught a stomach bug, but thankfully I’m better now. Though I had to pass up a number of social engagements and estate sales, I did manage to get to my neighborhood thrift store once and found a few goodies. 🙂
My first purchase was a bag of hand-blown glass candies!
Three were damaged and had to be thrown out, but I was still left with a group of 19. These are likely Murano and quite pretty.
I also found a huge blue and white chinoiserie ceramic bowl with a mysterious signature on the bottom. The 12″ shallow bowl has no great age, but is quite fetching and would look good in many decors.
Any ideas on this marking?
I found another Ken Edwards El Palomar Mexican pottery piece. This time an egg cup.
It’s not valuable but his pieces do sell for me and I’ll be adding this to a lot of other Ken Edward items.
In the purse area I spotted this big and bold turquoise leather B. [Bruce] Makowsky tote. I’d never heard of this brand, but the leather was super soft and it was well made. Worth the gamble in my books. After some digging at home, I discovered that this brand is sold all over the place including Nordstrom’s, Macy’s and QVC. New purses typically in the $125-$250 range. Pre-owned prices for a similar size bag widely vary. I’ll likely sell mine for $65.
Not much, but still they put a smile on my face.
Here’s what else put a smile on my face. My new friend Shari recently sent me this vintage kimono jacket. Isn’t it fabulous?
It’s in a beautiful muted gray and cream silk pattern and fits like a dream. I’m going to love wearing this out Shari. Many thanks. XOXO
As always, happy hunting,
Karen
It looks like it was made just for you!
