Thanksgiving was just lovely. Our two adult daughters came over and everyone had a role in the food preparations. (I did most of mine the day before!) My job on Thanksgiving was broiling the lamp chops and opening the wine! The day included lots of food, conversation, laughs and a few fun TV shows. The biggest blessing is that we all enjoy hanging out together. (They were here from 9:00 a.m. till after 5:00 p.m.) I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day.
Now this morning I was going to head out to some thrift stores for their Black Friday sales, but decided, very rightly, to spend the time tackling some of my inventory backlog. Though a few days ago I did pop into my neighborhood thrift store for a quick browse and found this hand made, signed pottery jug and was smitten!

Haven’t figured out the maker’s mark yet. (Didn’t find a match on The Marks Project website–a gold mine for this sort of research.)
Now I know this abstract piece won’t light everyone’s fire, but it sure did mine. Something about it just intrigues me. It’s found a new home with us…at least for a while!

New Listings
I bought this heavy vintage crystal ashtray at the flea market a year ago. When I brought it home I realized the interior was a bit cloudy and dull. So that began a seemingly never ending series of treatments to bring back the shine including soaking and scrubbing with a mixture of industrial-strength vinegar and baking soda. Nothing much helped until I tried cerium oxide glass polish and that made the difference. Finally I could list this gorgeous crystal ashtray–a year later! It weighs over three pounds, is lavishly cut and likely a Czech piece.

This little carved bone item came from the big private pick. Had no idea what it was but turns out it’s an antique Asian dice shaker! Some have sold for over $200, but the carving on this is rather simplistic so I’ve listed it at $90.
I’ve enjoyed these wonderful marble spheres (about the size of tennis balls) for several years but decided it was time to let them go. I’m selling them as a trio because they complement each other so well!
In Closing
Not pushing myself too much this weekend, but will keep plugging away. Hope your Thanksgiving was lovely too!
Happy hunting,
Karen
