My Directions for Selling Vintage in 2025

As I continue to list items in my Lion & Lamb Vintage store, most of the things are not “new buys” but from personal collections or inventory bought over a year ago and never listed. And that is the 2025 direction I’m heading in–sharply curtailing inventory expenses. In 2024 I spent around $2,100 in merchandise. I anticipate spending under $800 this year, if that.

And I have been trying to focus on buying older, great quality items or rare quirky things since 2024, but too often I deviate. I cave in. But I am going to try harder in 2025!

Another direction is to greatly reduce my stock of the lesser-value items. My friend Heather (owner of Etsy clothing store Perennial Vintage) did this recently with great results. She got rid of 400 lesser-value items over a period of three months, keeping a solid 200 of her best pieces. She improved the listings and now she has a wonderful boutique feel to her store and improved sales! As she shares “less is more” is working for her. Now, I just need to make those hard decisions!

When I look at the home page of my store it’s quite a mish-mosh of stuff and I wonder if being too much of a generalist affects my sales? Should I specialize in just a few areas? This is one to consider.

So I am going to see if I can keep my online vintage biz alive in 2025! But another direction, totally non-related to my vintage world, is my new blog for women over 50. Just in its infancy but growing. Here’s part of the home page for “Today’s Women of Age.” It covers a variety of topics (not all are listed yet) and I’m lining up a few guest writers. Still tinkering with some layout issues, but I hope you’ll check it out and subscribe. If you have an idea for a post, do let me know.

All the best,

Karen
