I’m in the sweet spot a few days before Christmas with no more obligations! All the Etsy orders have been mailed and my store put on “vacation mode.” The tree has been purchased and decorated. All the presents have been bought and wrapped. The Christmas menu planned and culinary assignments given! Other than a little cleaning and cooking, I can relax, take leisurely walks or curl up and read without worrying about something needing to be done. And that makes me soooo happy.
I’m also using this end-of-year time to declutter a bit. It’s a necessity in a small house. Even though we’re not big spenders stuff seeps in, stays and I swear multiplies! I’ve already donated several bags of books and one bag of misc. house stuff and I have some clothes and shoes that need to go too. I always feel better when I’m done.
The bonus (or not!) is that here and there I have found things “good enough” to sell online. When I was decorating our tree a few weeks ago, I realized I had a few ornaments that I never use anymore so I put them in my Etsy store and they sold lickety split. (The Corning Opelle glass snowflake sold for $58 and the Celestial Seasonings 25th Anniversary ceramic bear sold for $28.)

But mostly I’m relaxing. Thinking about the real meaning of Christmas. Reflecting on Christmases past. Missing all of my family who are now gone (some much too soon), but feeling so blessed for the family and friends that remain. And thankful for you dear readers who have stuck with me over the years reading my ramblings. (Many thanks.)
Wishing you a Merry Christmas,
Karen
