I finally made myself leave the house today after four days at home. I swear part of me is trying to become a hermit! I had one bag of clothes and linens to drop off at Goodwill so naturally I popped in for a browse. And I spotted lots of wonderful things, but for various reasons I had to say NO to buying them and it was a wrench at times.
The Italian Florentine waste basket was fabulous and these can resell from $100 to $200+, but it had a little too much damage for me. Each foot had significant damage as did some of the corners on the top. If it had been in better shape I would have snatched it in heart beat! The huge (over 3 feet tall) mirror with hand-painted frame was so gorgeous and I was trying to think of a place in our house for it. If I had an antique booth I would have grabbed it. (Didn’t check the price) The doggy painting was sweet, but likely an outsider piece and unpriced so I left it behind.

The small silverplated bud vases were charming (priced $3.69 each) but newer and not worth much (and I told myself I did not need more vases!). I was tempted by the MCM Whiting glass coasters with sterling silver rims ($7+ for the bundle) but I’ve had a couple in my store for years and no one wants them. Sad really because they rather classy.

The elegant crystal wine goblets (priced at $3.69 each) were Nachtmann in the discontinued Helena pattern. Replacements.com is selling them for $15.99 each. If I got all four I could sell them as a lot for $50+ but for me the profit just wasn’t enough to fuss around shipping crystal, especially four goblets. The little glass coal bucket was so cute, but not worth anything. Not even sure what it’s for…ideas?

In the end I perused the purses and found another beaded confection by designer Mary Frances. It’s in taupe/bronze colors with a slice of agate and in like-new condition. Listed for $128.
I am pleased with the choices I made, but I do wonder–would you have purchased any of the things I left behind?
Wishing you happy hunting,
Karen

I 99% of the time buy for myself, so, yes, I’d buy the dog painting. If… if it were $10 or so. Maybe $20! The coal scuttle ash tray is cute, but I just got rid of my ashtray collection! Except for the few I use as coasters. They fit glasses and mugs perfectly, with nice high sides for drips.

Lisa, thank you for your comment. 😊 I think if the dog painting would have a tad more to my liking I would have bought it!!
