Back to Real Life

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting my dad and brother in Tennessee for a few days but it all ended too soon and before I knew it I was flying back home. I will miss them–and Miss Lucy and our nights around the fire pit!

Now it’s back to real life and a long To-Do List. While I was gone my Etsy store was ka-chinging in sales with items ranging from $20 (charms and photos) to $148 (picture frame not shown) so my first To-Do item was getting all my orders packaged and to the post office. It was tedious work, but felt good knowing these were heading out to new homes (and were out of my house!).

Here are some of the things that sold while I was gone.

The sale of the pottery vase and nurse’s sterling silver buckle were particularly satisfying as I’ve had them in my store for three years. The just-listed gold glass tumbler (paid $2.69) sold in a few days for $45.

After the post office drop, it was a quick pop into my neighborhood thrift store. Since I hadn’t been there for a week I was hoping to see some good “new” stuff. And I did. This antique triple plate creamer/milk jug by Rogers & Bro. captured my attention right away. It was so sturdy and handsome.

Rogers & Bro was founded in 1858 and until 1874 it produced only flatware. In 1898 it became part of the International Silver Company, dating this jug to the late 1800s.

I love the birds but find the profile on each side curious. Who is he??

I found a similar napkin ring that sold on Etsy for $85! (I listed my jug for $68.)

And I loved the looks of this simple, silver-plated Hanukkah menorah though it is quite tarnished in places! Over the years I’ve sold nine menorahs (all brass) but have no doubt this one will sell too.

Tried to find out who made mine with no avail. Here’s one of the closest I’ve found with the same feet and type of taper but they don’t give many details either. More research is needed.

And in a momentary brain fog I bought a baggie of vintage crystal salt cellars. Good grief! Why??? There are a zillion for sale online and who’s buying them? No one! I’ve got a charity bag ready and I’m going to pop them in there.

Total paid: $11.37 (I asked for the senior discount and she forgot to apply it. 😕)

I’ve also started listing my few finds from Tennessee including the pretty cross-stitch floral piece which has 14 stitches per inch! The kit sells for $20 to $30 so I’ve listed this perfect completed version for $60.

My other To-Do List items include post-trip laundry, catching up on emails, my annual mammogram, and yard work. Nothing exciting but all stuff that needs to be taken care of.

I’ll close for now wishing you happy hunting,

Karen
