First I saw this shelf full of Precious Moments figurines. Now I know some folks love them and I know some can be valuable. I know this. But they are just not something I want to buy and sell. I personally find them insipid. I walked past. Still I wonder, did I pass up a higher-valued piece?
On the flip side I did buy this handmade signed ceramic tray despite my moratorium on pottery! I thought the ’90s-era colors were bold and fun and oddly appealing. There were about eight other pieces on the shelf by this artist in similar colors, each a singleton other than two cups, but I decided against all the others. But after I got it home I wondered, is it too dated? I’ll likely list this for $28.
but I would use it on a desk for pencils or pens.
I also found these Irish Eamon etched wine glasses with a claddagh and shamrocks and a silver rim. This pair still had its Avoca store gift label and appear unused. Quite nice. Still they are not valuable. Not like my Waterford glasses. I’ll list this pair for $38.
I used to be an antique sterling souvenir spoon collector. At the height of it I had about 60 spoons, but slowly over the last 10 years I’ve been selling them off. Here’s what remains of my collection.
Now admittedly silver souvenir spoons are not popular items. Their heyday is long past. Still they do sell, eventually. So when I spotted this random vintage demi spoon with a ping-pong/table tennis theme I had to take a look. It’s small and lightweight (5.65 grams) but with a unique subject matter and marked sterling. Well, I couldn’t leave something sterling silver behind. We’ll see if it sells. I’ll list this for $18.
Total spent: $9.35. (The cashier neglected to charge me for one of the glasses.)
So I ended up buying four items on one trip, which rarely happens. But I’m not over the moon about any of them.

Occasionally I look on FaceBook Marketplace for items for my store. I have bought a couple of things over the years but here is the most outrageous thing I have seen listed in a long time–a pair of ratty, heavily worn shoe insoles for $100!!
At first I thought this had to be a joke listing, then it hit me, this is likely for the people with foot fetishes! Certainly a category I do not source for!
